ITEMS NEEDED FOR SUNDAY SCHOOL: construction paper (any color), glue (sticks or plastic bottles), colored pencils, pens, copy paper, notebooks (any size), modeling clay.

The study material used now in Sunday School classes is the "Children's Bible Reader". This book is available for purchase from the Romanian Episcopate for only $10. It has excellent iconographic illustrations (full-color) with easy-to-understand text (hard cover, 311 pages). We need a few more books (at least 3) for our school. Please visit the Donations page to "Donate a Book for Sunday School".

The Saint Joseph American Romanian Orthodox Youth was founded in 2004 and started off with a few children in a room located in the Church's basement. At that time Nicholas Butoi put his time, talent, heart and imagination to work in creating the necessary meanings to have religious lessons in a both educative and fun environment.

The so-called "library room" soon became a place where kids of ages between 3 and 9 were having a good time listening to readings from the Scripture, drawing or watching various educational movies. Soon enough, that youth room had its own computer, table, toys, books, posters, air conditioning unit, office desk etc., and Nicholas Butoi was able to even grade the attending children on the courses.

The Sunday School Room was completely remodeled and religious education classes are being offered now every Sunday after the children receive Holy Communion. Sunday School has a computer, projector and audio system; all children enrolled sometimes watch Power Point Presentations or educational movies during religion lessons. Presentations are part of their orthodox education.

We encourage you to bring your children to Church and Sunday School. We think that it is crucial to teach our children our orthodox faith, to develop their spiritual formation, character and personality for their entire life and therefore we take great commitment and responsibility in doing so.

According to our By-Laws, the Sunday School Director has a vote in the Parish Council as representative of an auxiliary organization, and is able to actively participate in the Church's life.

If you have children between 5 and 11 years old, please bring them to St.Joseph's Church and enroll them in the Sunday School. You may send an email to info@romanianfaith.org for more information.
