Future Events:
Hazleton Fun Fest - Saturday September 11, 2010
- St. Joseph's Orthodox Church will participate to the Hazleton's Fun Fest this year.Besides the opportunity to advertise our presence in this community, to sell some of our best dishes, and traditional food (like stuffed cabbage, little grilled sausages - mititei - and home made sweets), we are raising important funds for the Church.

During the past years, we made our products well known, and desired among the participants, by offering a combination of quality, price, and enthusiasm, working together for the church's benefit. We need your help to make this event a successful one!

How can you help your Church? What can you do for your Church?

This is what we need:
- any kind of sweets (cakes, pies etc);
- bottled water and soda cans (for sale by piece);
- foam plates, cups, napkins, plastic forks, spoons;
- volunteer or donate your time to help at the sales stand (any amount of time you can be there and help);

The event starts on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11 am. Please, bring your items directly to the stand at 11 am or earlier. We will be clearly marked by a banner with the church's name on it. For your convenience, this is our approximate location on the map:

All your donations (work, time, items) may be tax deductible. Please let us know you are coming, staying, or bringing items by email or call 570-401-1389 (for any information). We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Past Events:

We were very happy and honored to have His Grace bishop Irineu (Auxiliary Bishop of the ROEA) among us on Sunday March 21st, 2010. His Grace officiated the Divine Liturgy, and a commemoration service for the departed. Then His Grace Bishop Irineu blessed the newly remodeled church basement and Sunday School room. Below are some pictures of this important event in our church's life.

All events are listed on this page, announced in the Church and advertised via standard or first class mail to all parishioners. These events have a "fund-raiser" purpose; thus your participation is strongly encouraged, since all donations are to supporting the Church.

The amount of your donation is entirely up to you unless there is a special participation of a certain band, singer, actor etc.; please keep in mind that you are actively helping the church by participating to these events.

It was decided in one of the Parish Council meetings that participation to some of these events should be with "free will donations". Everybody may donate according to their heart and possibilities. In some cases there may be a suggested minimum donation.

If you plan to participate to one of these events please call 570-454-7224 and leave a confirmation message with your name and number of persons participating. It will help us tremenduously in organizing that event. Also, if you do receive an invitation and are unable to come, please consider your donation to the church anyway - it is for a noble purpose and we will pray for you.
